Boston Bruin Membership

Goaltenders:

  • Tuukka Rask

  • Tim Thomas(Boston Bruins #30 Tim Thomas Jersey)

Analysis: This is a strong 1-2 punch, with Thomas hoping to wipe out what happened last season, even to the point of challenging the younger Rask for the starting spot. Rask was in goal for the Philly collapse and needs to bounce back from that and continue to improve.

Defensemen:

  • Zdeno Chara (Zdeno Chara jersey)

  • Dennis Seidenberg

  • Andrew Ference

  • Matt Hunwick

  • Johnny Boychuk

  • Mark Stuart

  • Adam McQuaid

Analysis: The lack of a true puck mover remains a potential problem for the Bruins, who sent Dennis Wideman to Florida in the only big offseason trade made by the club. Chara is the leader of the group and remains a potent shooter, and the addition of Seidenberg first helped and then hurt this team last year when he was lost late in the season.

    LINES:

Projected first line: LW Milan Lucic(Boston Bruins #17 Milan Lucic Jersey), C Marc Savard(Boston Bruins #91 Marc Savard 3RD Jersey), RW Nathan Horton.

Projected second line: Mark Recchi, C Patrice Bergeron, RW Tyler Seguin.

Projected third line: LW Jordan Caron, C David Krejci, RW Blake Wheeler.

Projected fourth line: LW Daniel Paielle, C Gregory Campbell, RW Shawn Thornton.

Analysis: The forward lines were a work in progress because of several factors, notably, the health of Savard and the progress in camp of Seguin, who could slip into his natural center spot if Savard can't play. But if everything goes right, this could be a more potent Boston attack. Caron, the 2009 first-round pick, was impressive.

Medical Watch:

  • The Bruins had several players coming off surgery, but the health story in training camp was the status of center Marc Savard, out again because of post-concussion syndrome. No one knew when, or if, he'd be back.

  • LW Marco Sturm was coming along after knee surgery but isn't expected back until mid-November.

  • G Tim Thomas was being brought along slowly after offseason hip surgery but should ready to go.

  • C David Krejci was mended after wrist injury ended his playoffs in Game 4 against the Flyers.

  • D Dennis Seidenberg was fine and ready to go after surgery to repair an arm tendon.

  • D Andrew Ference was back and ready after two hernia surgeries.

  • LW Milan Lucic is back at full speed after last season's ankle problem.
